Get ready to enjoy a blast from the past at Luther’s 66th annual LIT. The 80’s is the totally radical decade that will be featured at this year's tournament. Classics like The Breakfast Club, ET, and The Ghostbusters will be showcased in the decorations and entertainment throughout the tournament. Music will include icons like Madonna, Michael Jackson and New Order. Don’t be surprised if neon clothing and big hair make a comeback at the tournament as well.

The third and final day of LIT 65 was full of more traditions and lots of exciting basketball! The day began with the Annual LIT Banquet; where teams created and performed superhero theme songs, participated in a trivia contest, and listened to LIT Special Guest Kevin Vollet speak about LIT and high school athletics. Then, in the tournament’s first game to take place in the Merlis Belsher Heritage Center, the Luther Lions Boy’s played against the St. Joseph Guardian’s for 7th place. The Guardians took the game, with a final score of 83-68 for St. Joseph.

LIT 65 Day 2 Recap

The second day of LIT 65 was just as exciting as the first with lots of great basketball during each game! The first game between the Kelowna Christian Knights and St. Joseph Guardians had many incredible plays that had the fans on their feet cheering. Cruz Anderson from the Knights was unstoppable at the start of the game. He had Kelowna’s first 12 points, which kept them in the lead for the game. Jackson Borne was back from his injury, which happened on the first day, and played strong. St. Joseph played a fast paced game, which they kept at until the very last minute.

LIT 65 Day 1 Recap

The first day of Lit 65 was exciting and a big success. The day kicked off with the pep rally which included all of the teams and lots of Luther spirit! The first game was between the Sisler Spartans and the Kelowna Christian Knights; both teams started off strong, but Sisler was very quick on their feet and was able to pull away with the win. Unfortunately Jackson Borne of the Kelowna Christian Knights had an injury but is on the mend; hopefully he will be able to play tomorrow. The first game of LIT had an end score of 90-61 for the Sisler Spartans.

Behind the Scenes at LIT 65- Committees

Feb
09

LIT 65 has been thwarted once again- perhaps fitting given the Heroes VS. Villains theme- but this time our committee members stepped up to defend the tournament against the mischievous Lommy Tux. Lommy Tux targeted the committees one by one until he was finally defeated and thrown out- LIT can go on! Our committees are the magic behind LIT, with over 80 students involved on committees like media, decorations, admissions and more. With lots of hard work LIT is made possible by our committees, so it's a good thing Lommy Tux was stopped!
