Winnipeg St. Paul Crusaders

From an all boys school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the St. Paul Crusaders stood in 3rd place last year, and are currently in 1st place in their league. They placed 7th in the Fr Joe Barry tournament in Sacramento, California, 2nd in the Piper Classic, and they have been Provincial Finalists in both 2015 and 2017. Led by the leadership of their coaches, the Crusader boys follow a philosophy of leading by example, such as that of Mark Tachie and Ben Gardner, who are more concerned about the team’s success than statistics. The team has a deep-rooted history in LIT, as Nick Laping, father to Coach Jeff Laping, played in LIT in 1962 with DMCI, and Cieran O’Hara and Luke Cardinal, who are members of the Crusaders this year, have older brothers who played for St. Paul’s in 2015 in LIT (Cam O’Hara and Ethan Cardinal). Noah Dornn and Mark Tachie both played for the Manitoba Provincial Basketball Team in 2017, and Ben Gardner was an All-Star at the Fr Joe Barry Tournament. Extending the rule of the team’s All-Stars, Noah Dornn and Mark Tachie both earned this title at the Piper Classic. We are so excited to see these boys play in the 66th Annual Luther Invitational Tournament!
