Regina Campbell Tartans

Regina’s own Campbell Tartans Senior Boys team held 1st place in their league last year and are currently tied for 1st this season. This year, they've placed 2nd in the B.O.W.L.T. and 1st in the Fekula Classic. In the 2016-2017 season, they were runner-ups in the City Championships and won the Senior Boys 5A Provincial Championships. As an athletically versatile team, many of the boys play other sports such as football. Matt Rivers, a University of Regina Rams commit, and Bennett Stusek represented Canada in the International Bowl in 2018. Eriyeza Buwembo and Harrison Lars-Hansen play for Team Sask Basketball. The Campbell Tartans have been playing in LIT for years, but are most closely connected this year as Assistant Coach, Stephen Shields, played in LIT in 2006 and 2008 for the Neelin Spartans (Brandon, MB), and Head Coach, Zach Mihalicz’s father, played in LIT for the Regina Sheldon Spartans in the 1980’s. The whole team commits to a common goal to accomplish as leaders and athletes, and they achieve the goals they are seeking to attain collaboratively. The Grade 12’s have been incredible leaders, such as Lars-Hansen and Buwembo, who seem quiet off the court, but have the voice on the court to guide the team and teach the younger boys about work ethic and selflessness.
