Pre-LIT events that you may not be aware of:

Things I've Missed for LIT

Feb

LIT holds a special place in my heart.  I grew up watching the games and got to play in three of them.   Sometimes you have to sacrifice other things you enjoy to make it to LIT, here are a few that I remember.

2001-  The epic Raised Fist concert at the Exchange

2003- Skipped a concert in MJ, told my band I was sick.  Had to watch Rob Davis play, I was afraid he would break my Luther record of 41 points in a game, (Since broken by Marc Van Burke in 2006)

#stargazingLIT60

A hobby that I have adopted is a thing called stargazing.  I picked this up from Rob Vanstone of the Leader Post last year at LIT.  If anyone sees famous people (anyone who is famous in your mind) at LIT this weekend, shoot me a tweet with who you saw, or tweet it yourself with the hashtag #stargazingLIT60.  For example: Joel Hunter, former U of R cougar, and one of the best 3 point shooters out there, sitting on the Luther Senior Boys bench coaching the Lions to victory.

Day 1 Predictions

Feb
09

I want predictions.  Which teams move on to the right side of the bracket?  I would say predict the winners and losers, but we are all winners here at LIT.  Please leave comments below.  If you don't have a prediction about who moves on, please leave a comment about something else, let's get some discussion going.

Last Minute Tid Bits

Feb

-  There's a lot of hype about all the great talent coming to LIT.  This has shadowed the fact that the host team has a grade 9 playing for them this year.  Opong Bramble is a 6'4" 14 year old, playing for the home team this weekend.  He's a pretty solid soccer goalie as well.

-  Another great thing about LIT is the closing ceremonies.  After the final on Saturday, stick around for a cool wrap up video and the presentaton of all the awards.

Last Supper

Feb

I was really dreading making supper tonight until I remembered it will be the last meal I have to make until Sunday. LIT will be my grazing ground for the next 3 days.  The concession stand always has great food; pizza, pop, etc in addition this year I will be heading down to Crave for the Friday luncheon to hear the special guest speak.  Saturday brings the annual alumni game followed by a brunch and then Saturday night a cabaret at the Queensbury with a midnight buffet.  I come for the basketball but stay for the food.
